When it comes to making a room festive, a banner allows you to literally transform a space in a matter of minutes! Several years ago I purchased a fabric banner that we hang for birthdays and these days, I find myself hanging banners for celebrations and festivities both large and small. Today I am sharing an Easter banner, however, you can take the idea shown and adapt it to nearly any holiday or occassion.
This banner was made in minutes thanks to MDS! Not familiar with MDS? It is the digital design software that Stampin' Up! offers and you can try it free for 30 days! Let me tell you what I did to create the banner...
- Created a custom size project (4" x 6") in MDS and inserted the Everybunny digital stamp images on the pages of the project -- I did increase the size of stamp images and this worked beautifully
- Cut some card stock to measure 4" x 6"
- Printed the project on my home printer
- Colored in the images using Crayola Crayons
- Used a needle and thread to string up the banner
- Knotted on long pieces of ribbon
- With a little assistance from my husband, hung the banner in the front window of our home.
This is a project that you can complete in under an hour and I know we will enjoy each day leading up to Easter! Honestly these photos do not do the banner justice but I am wrapping this up on Saturday night and the lighting conditions are far from ideal! I'll have to share some daylight photos this week.
There are many ways to adapt and customize this project...
- Have little ones? Let them help with the coloring!
- Want something a little more plain? Leave off the ribbon.
- Want bolder color? Mount the 4x6 sheets on 5x7 pieces of colored card stock and/or use solid colored stamp brush images.
- What do you have to celebrate? Whatever it might be (first day of school, a stay-cation, a promotion, a birthday, the arrival of a little one), consider making a banner to help create a festive atmosphere!
When I was using MDS, I also took a few minutes to go into the Everything Easter Ensemble (home to the digital version of the Everybunny stamp set), added our names to the placecards, and printed. It took just a couple more minutes to cut these out and here they are:
Please share! For what occasions or celebrations do you hang banners? Please be sure to leave a comment with your response.
