Do you ever see a color challenge and have it stump you? That happened to me this week's Pals Paper Arts Challenge (PPA191). I looked at the combo and could only evision Halloween.
So I thought about for more than a day and tried to think about what other colors I might bring in for a more spring like look (definitely needed because we are due for up to a foot of snow today). And then on the drive home yesterday, it hit me...St. Patrick's Day! I already planned to use MDS and it struck me that the Lucky Framable would be perfect.
Here is a placemat I made last year with this design:
And the part that is covered in cereal is front and center in the little framed art that I created this year:
When creating today's project:
- I eliminated a couple lines of the "text" (actually stamp brush images) from the top. It comes as an 8-1/2" x 11" design. I just sort of guessed on how much to remove to create a square.
- Used the brush tool to change the "kiss me" to be Pumpkin Pie rather than a shade of green. In addition I changed the shade of green for a few other elements of the project.
- And changed the project size to be a 3" x 3" design before I printed out (it defaults to print on the center of an 8-1/2" x 11" piece of paper), trimmed it down and mounted on Gumball Green card stock and placed in the frame!
So easy!
To make this a hybrid project, I punched out several flags/banners and attached them to the gold ribbon I had left from the "J'e t'aime" banner. You'll see in a moment that each banner is actually two --I used Stampin' Dimensionals to secure the banner pieces and ribbon together.
And, of course, the framed art makes a fun addition to the St. Paddy's day banner that I already made! The gold ribbon is a nice complement to the gold foil of the banner!
Hope you enjoy this fun little idea and come up with a way to create something similar for St. Patrick's Day or another occassion!
Oh, and one last thing before I sign off, I've see the projects from design team 2 and they have an amazing collection of gorgeous projects with this color combo and not a single St. Patrick's Day one in the mix! Amazing how we interpret things in different ways! Hats off to my friends for their gorgeous projects this week!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Come back and visit again soon!
