As we begin Teacher Appreciation Week, I wanted to share a project that I created for Brooklyn's pre-school. It is a piece of framed art that features the name of the school and all of the teacher's names repeated over and over again in the shape of a heart:
The pennants provide a festive touch and make this otherwise digital project a true hybrid. I created the heart image using a punch in My Digital Studio and then layered the text with all the names over top of it. The project was a little trickier than I thought it would be...if you are interested in learning just how I did this, I am happy to share! Please just let me know!
The framed art was fun to make and I hope all the teachers enjoy it! We are certainly so pleased with the education Brooklyn has received at the school.
Today I also want to share a photo with me and one of my very first teachers -- Maryanne Beano. She was my kindergarten teacher and was a teacher to who truly inspired a love of learning and encouraged us to explore and discover new things.
According to the caption under the photo, we were asked "How do you feel on the first day of school?"...clearly I was quite excited to be there! The school was known as Little Earth and with a name like that, you have to know it was a special place with a special teacher.
The photo was taken by Perry Conley and would have appeared in either The Reporter or The Mountain Ear, the local papers in North Conway, NH where I grew up.
A big thank you to all the teachers who are reading this post -- happy teacher appreciation week!
